European Historic Theatres Day

October 25th

European Historic Theatres Day is celebrated annually on 25 October. Established in 2017 by Perspectiv – Association of Historic Theatres in Europe, the initiative aims to spotlight the historic theatre venues and mark their cultural contribution across the continent.

European Historic Theatres Day is essential to recognize theatres not only as architectural landmarks, but as living cultural spaces that have shaped Europe’s artistic, social, and civic life for centuries. These theatres embody common European values: dialogue, creativity, craftsmanship, and the transmission of knowledge across generations and borders.

Since 2017, the European Historic Theatres Day made a remarkable impression on both the cultural scene and social media, inspiring original events and creative activities, and showcasing captivating posts with beautiful images of historic theatre architecture. By opening doors, sharing stories, and engaging new audiences, the European Historic Theatres Day strengthens cultural participation and ensures that these remarkable spaces remain vibrant, accessible, and meaningful for future generations.

Each edition of the European Historic Theatres Day is focused on a new theme, inviting audiences everywhere to engage with and celebrate the rich heritage of historic theatres.
